CFTC Chair Says Crypto Market Bill Is Nearly Ready for President Trump
Newly confirmed Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig announced that Congress is on the verge of passing landmark legislation to regulate U.S. cryptocurrency markets. The bill, which could soon reach President Donald Trump’s desk, aims to establish clear rules for digital asset trading and solidify the CFTC's role alongside the SEC.
Selig, confirmed by the Senate last week, emphasized that the legislation would position the U.S. as the global leader in crypto innovation. "Congress is poised to send digital asset market structure legislation that will cement the U.S. as the Crypto Capital of the World," he stated. The move reflects Washington's growing recognition of the need for regulatory clarity as retail participation in commodity and derivatives markets hits record highs.
The proposed framework addresses the rapid evolution of digital platforms and financial products, prioritizing market stability without stifling growth. Selig thanked President TRUMP for his appointment, signaling a new chapter for the CFTC as technology reshapes finance.
